Celebrating 5 Years of The Kraft Center for Community Health

On June 8, The Kraft Center for Community Health celebrated its five-year anniversary with members of the Kraft family along with the Mass League of Community Health Centers and The Kraft Center’s leadership, partners and friends. The event highlighted the impact the Center has made during its first five years and outlined the future of the Center under new leadership at Massachusetts General Hospital.
During its first five years, one of the primary goals of The Kraft Center was to create career paths for young clinicians in community health centers. Under the leadership of Dr. Derri Shtasel, The Kraft Center graduated 75 clinician leaders with a large number of Kraft trainees having gone on to assume positions of increased responsibility and leadership.
Over the next five years and beyond, The Kraft Center has shifted its focus to provide support for direct community services in three targeted areas of need:
- Mobile health program offering primary care and addiction services
- Cancer Care Equity
- Community Health Training
The Center will be led by Executive Director, Dr. Elsie Taveras and will aim to catalyze innovative solutions to real world community health problems, execute solutions locally, and make them scalable and ready to spread nationally to improve health outcomes for disadvantaged populations throughout the Commonwealth and nationally.
